Red for happiness

vintage, handpainted, silk, asian, chinese, japanese, new years decoration, red orange,

physalis, twinkle and light strings…

and a little bit more…to need, love and perhaps want….or let the party begin…

and one last…

blossom in later life

I saw this little simple house at Pinterest and thought it looked like the next little house below….

little house found on pinterest

which reminded me of a movie I saw lately about Novo Scotia folk artist Maud Lewis and her husband Everett, both standing in front of the house…

I thought the true story about her life and art was so touching, that I needed to share the story here…Besides having a really rough life, bad life conditions in all areas, poor, ill and treated bad in general…she managed to create space in her life to her art….folk art, small art pieces in general…

Lewis and Everett, photographed by a visitor. Polaroid from the early 60s

here is a little trailer about the movie….

and what have been fascinating me a lot is all her paintings in her and her husbands tiny little house…and not paintings on canvas but paintings at everything…enjoy all the next photos…and look her up elsewhere for her art..as an interior designer this is sooooo lovely…

paintings everywhere

maud lewis, tiny little strong woman

so beautiful with the colors and interior

one of her windows in the house…perhaps tulips…

The images of her little house and all the colours and small naive paintings at walls, things at home have been on my mind since I saw the movie about her…

In the end of her life Maudie blossomed…..and was recognized….what a lovely woman… Last some of the lovely music from the movie about Maud “Little Bird” by Lisa Hannigan.

perhaps I should blog about the interior, decor and house in the movie “Nanny Mcphee” made by Emma Thompson and Maurice Rapf, because that is also some very lovely interior….

dark, rich and a tone from the deep belly

…..his voice….Matt Johnson from THE THE…

“We can’t stop what’s coming” by THE THE, first new material in 15 years..usually I blog jazz music, but pop rock is nice as well, and I like THE THE…and forgot all about them because of their silence…

I was attracted by the photo of the front singer, so beautiful close up…by photographer John Claridge…

THE THE in The Inertia Variations film… from a year ago…but first now the release some new music…

providing perfect happiness

or great joy, with one word blissful would probably be my feeling if I had these nice things at home…not that I need them…but I like them…a lot….

kitchen hacker

or as they call their kitchen collections, ANYTHING BUT ORDINARY…

Company &Shufl is a danish carpenter company which design kitchen front and tops which fits with some of the IKEA kitchens, bathrooms and  wardrobes. They produce them in materials as painted, linoleum, laminate, wood, raw…oooh I’m in love, just my kind of design simple and colorful.

I like their way of thinking, to upgrade ones “cheap” IKEA kitchen, and put it together with carpenter fronts and tops…its innovation…and this blue kitchen below is already what I have had in mind for my own future kitchen, nice to see my dreams and design expressed this way…

more from &Shufl and some extra nice kitchen from others designers…I see a lot of green preferences…powder rose colored as well…

“The ugliest house…

…I have ever seen,” was the first words of jewellery designer Stine Andersen Johansen, when she from the outside saw her 400 m2 house from 1974 made by architect Axel Jørgensen….but when she came inside everything changed, and all resistance disappeared all at once…and what a nice home they have created…just a little inspiration

whimsical everyday art

by swedish illustrator and artist Camilla Engman, which I first met back in 2010 in Gothenburg, where I was invited by some swedish textile artist’ for an annual textile exibition in Gothenburg…

Her expression and style are playful, light and circles around dailylife aspects…besides her illustrations, she creates paper- and woodartpieces, ceramic and installations…

Have a look at her homepage camilla engman, or elsewhere on the net…

determined crocheter!

I must admit…Huge, massive project and many hours of crocheted work. Pure yarn joy…

I like yarnbombing also called street knit, knifitti, guerilla knit, yarn storming, urban knitting, grafitti knitting, ….a type of grafitti and movement around the world..where colourful knit or crochet is like paint in the public space..usually its about reclaiming or personalizing sterile public spaces…

There actually exist an international yarnbombing day…great…

another yarnbombing project, where someone yarnbombed the fourth floor toilet at the Guggenheim museum…thats funny…
