We made it

After 4 very intense days of transforming the huge reception area at the Goverment of Greenland – Changed by so many people, at least 20 people everyday – everything has been changed – so when they get in to work today ( its night for me cant sleep after being very busy for a long period) they will be met by a 100% transformed huge environment…we still need some things, like the carpets which are in India and have been delayed because of the pandemic. Plants – big and small will fly up with a florist next week, and later today I will recieve some extra delayed furnitures and lamps with the flight…plus a whole big area upstairs…

I am so thankful with the result, and most of all full of gratitude for all the professional people who has made it possible, it has been so lovely.

In some weeks I upload photos of the project from a professional photographer, the photos below doesnt show the end result, until then I am excited to hear the response of the result from The Goverment of Greenland…

Former Prime minister Jonathan Motzfeldt
It found its place

Waiting for glassfronts and walls which are being painted
A lot of smaller items, soapstone, bronze, ceramic having their own little Space, before glassfronts are put on and the cabinet is hanged on the wall.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Worth a lot of lovely art

For this project I designed many different things, today we have been working on putting up one of the art cabinets. Im so thrilled with my design and the beautiful result of the woodworkers craftmanship…One thing is that you have an idea, another thing is finding people who are able to realise it.

Before the art cabinet can be placed, we had to move it another time, at put in safely the glass fronts,
We slided glasspieces in to their place
Then we plugged in some small wood pieces (dont know their name)
I dont know their name
Covering the wood pieces to protect the glass
At the bottom and sides we made extra panels

I really look forward to experience it tomorrow morning with the light and on its permanent place. And start arranging the art..

The plan is that it is permanent closed from the front and that the art has to be removed, rearranged cleaned by opening up wood panels from behind.

Handmade

Beautiful ceramic polarbears made by local clay from the fiord
Wax mould for bronzerings
Sewed wild sweetgrass baskets

Cabinets waiting for its glassfronts and to be hanged om the walls
Space after Space after Space for small sculptures⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Safety first
Soapstone sculptures

Unpacking a lot of art mainly sculptures to sort out how to exibit them in the new cabinets…together with paintings and the rest of the interior…BUT only imagining and planning in my mind because, its impossible for the moment..too much stuff and people working everywhere..

Ceilings, walls, floors are worked on, so Im waiting patiently to be able to move on…

Quite glad :)

A custommade acoustic door
And a lot of acoustic walls made by the woodworkers, behind the oak panels acoustic filt creating better acoustic environment in this big entrancespace of the Goverment of Greenland where so many people pass by during a day.
Custommade oak cabinet without its glassfront and Led lightpanels.
Part of it – in-between-cleaning and beautiful sunshine outside
Colonial Daybed by Ole Wanscher fabricated by Carl Hansen & Son – unpacking and hour before use to protect it as much as possible.
Part of the new custommade reception – smoked oak – moved and placed temporary
Blankets everywhere to protect

My day is mainly circling around a LOT of communication, taking small and big decisions – although the project is well described, there will always be issues occurring which has to be solved immediately . When there is a very tight timeschedule, problemsolving and good coordinatingvwork of 20 different people is so important so nobody has to wait for another persons work…

Some of my people will work until late this evening and others will start 4 am, which I really appreciate. Meanwhile the Goverment of Greenland is having their half yearly intense gathering taking political decisions, and exactly this week (our project was delayed 4 weeks because of Covid-19, so we have to work next to their intense work), which means using heavy tools in specific hours are NO go 🙂

By the way renovation-, interior- and buildingprojects are a very male dominated world, and I really find it easy and nice to work with all these skilled men…

Voila’

Yesterday
Today

Yesterday 4 pm until now so much have been done.

I wonder where the cables are leading – big mystery, nice we have an extra block of greenlandic marble to make some mending in these holes.

New interior and spacedesign is soooo much more than changing furnitures and colours! Its dirty, a lot of stuff, hidden important supplies, of course the furnitures are important BUT the easiest part of it!

Look at the colour difference at the marble floor – we are waiting for a specific cleaning maschine to fix the floor so it get the same colour every where.

5 days of speed and excitement

Today and the next 5 days full speed of work for me and my huge group of helping people…I have chills of happiness.

Another 20 feet container load of lovely furnitures
For some of the art, with a glass front
Beautiful colonial chair by Ole Wanscher from Carl Hansen
One of the cabinets for art
A custom made door with acoustic panel and a tired mover after moving hundreds and hundreds of heavy oak tree panels.
A suitcase with the tools of the woodworker
A moment of no running
Electricians moving the alarm system and the old reception which will be taken down today
Moving moving moving
